Vale de Milho Golf Course - a 9-hole golfing treat
The Vale de Milho Golf Course is situated three kilometres to the east of Carvoeiro on the road to Rocha Bravo.
At 926 m, Vale de Milho is a Par-3 course, with the longest hole being just over 160 m. Despite being a short course, it is maintained as well as other full sized Algarve golf courses. It is a good test of “approach” golf in a very pretty setting. There are quite a few trees on the course adding to the beauty of it, with some lakes and some views over the sea. All in all, a very pleasant holiday course.
The course does have some pedigree, as it was designed by Dave Thomas (for those of you who are old enough to remember him), who played in the Ryder cup and also designed the Belfry in the UK.
It cannot compete with the
Gramacho
and
Vale da Pinta
golf courses in the area, so focuses its efforts in attracting beginners and holidaymakers with golfing withdrawal symptoms, who have a couple of hours to spare. However, if 9-holes is not enough, you can play it twice for the full 18-holes, using slightly different tees for the back-nine.
It’s a good place to come if you want a bit of fun on your Algarve holiday with the family, or if you’re new to the game and are too intimidated or don’t have the handicap requirements to play the ‘big’ courses nearby. No handicap certificate is required here and dress-code is casual, but they do expect some knowledge of golfing etiquette. You can also hire clubs here for your round.
If you are a beginner, then lessons and packages can be booked here. If you’re going to learn, you might as well do it in the sun.
Vale de Milho Golf Course Facilities
There is a pleasant club house, with a bar and restaurant. Good views over the course can be had from the terrace. There is also a Pro-shop, Driving Range, equipment and trolley hire. No Handicap Certificate is required, and the normal Algarve dress code is NOT required as casual dress is allowed.

Come off the Via do Infante motorway at the Lagoa turn-off take the road to Carvoeiro and follow the signs from Poco Partido
or Carvoeiro to Vale de Milho Golf Course.
