Quinta da Ria Golf Course
If you fancy a game of golf on your Algarve holiday, then Quinta da Ria golf course is an excellent new course to try. Opened in March 2002, is located 6 kms east of Tavira. At 6016 metres with a par of 72, this was the first of two 18-hole golf courses to be opened on this complex.
The course runs down to the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve, with stunning views of the mountains and the sea. The course is not particularly hilly and dotted with olive and carob trees. Its not long but the most has been made of the limited amount of land available.
The course is suitable for golfers of all standards. Despite having a number of lakes to catch errant shots, it the easier of the two courses, and a little shorter than its sister, Quinta de Cima.
If you want to play here, you will need a handicap certificate. The maximum handicap for men is 28, and for ladies, 36. Soft spikes only will be allowed.
Quinta da Ria Golf Green Fee (2006/7) is € 90.
Facilities: Club House, Snack bar, Pro-Shop, Putting-green, Driving-range (300 x 100 m), Golf Academy, Hire of Buggies, and trolleys.
