Take a gamble with the Hotel Algarve Casino
Hotel Algarve Casino  Although its not the prettiest hotel in the world, the Algarve Casino Hotel occupies a great position on top of the cliffs overlooking the long and wide beach in Praia da Rocha , a Western Algarve holiday resort, a short distance south of Portimao. The luxury Hotel Algarve Casino is billed as a 5-star establishment and as its name suggests is home to a casino, the Algarve’s first in fact. While the hotel has some great facilities, it probably doesn’t live up to its 5-star rating, the rooms being somewhat dated and needing a facelift. With that said however, it is still a fine hotel!  It is a large hotel, spanning some six floors with 208 guestrooms. The rooms tend to be spacious and clean and have television and air-conditioning. The best ones have a sea view, and if you’re going to stay in a good hotel like this, it’s probably worth paying the extra to get one.
Hotel Algarve Casino FacilitiesOutdoors, surrounded by lush gardens, are a couple of swimming pools, both of which are heated, making all-year round use a possibility. One of the pools is for children and the other, a sea-water pool, is for adults. It is a decent sized pool, good for swimming, but for just relaxing in you’ll find that it gets very deep very quickly. So unless you’re 10 feet tall you won’t be able to stand in the deep end. Around the pool are sun loungers and complimentary towels are available. When he kids are fed up with the pool, there is a playground available to keep them occupied. When you’re fed up with the kids, child-care is available, so you can go off and enjoy some time without them.  If you fancy spending some time by the sea, then the wonderful beach is adjacent to the hotel. The Hotel Algarve Casino has its own concession on the beach, but even as a hotel guest you’ll have to pay for the use of a sun-lounger.
For the health conscious amongst you, the hotel has a health club and small gym. For those who would rather give the gym a miss, and indulge a little, there are three restaurants in the hotel. The Amendoeiras Restaurant is quite up-market and serves both Portuguese and International dishes The Aladino Restaurant again serves local and international dishes and is based at the casino. For snacks and drinks or lunch by the pool, then try the Zodiaco Restaurant . There are plenty of restaurants to choose from outside the hotel. Turning right out of the Hotel Algarve Casino, it’s a short walk to the Marina where you’ll find the more upmarket restaurants. Turn left out of the hotel if you fancy a pizza or a steak and a pint of Guinness.
Fancy a flutter?The casino in the hotel is a fun way to get rid of any extra cash, starting with a charge to just to get in. Inside there are the usual gaming tables and a myriad of slot machines. As they say, if you want to come out a millionaire, then go in a billionaire.If you’re not a gambler, you could always catch one of the International cabaret shows which are laid on nightly. The next morning, whether you’ve lost your shirt in the Casino or lost you’re voice singing along to a show, enjoy the buffet breakfast with a good choice of fruit, pastries, cheese and meat or perhaps treat yourself to a cooked breakfast.
