Gramacho Golf Course
Gramacho Golf Course is part of the Pestana golf resort, in the heart of the Algarve, near Carvoiero, around 60km from Faro airport. It comprises the Gramacho golf course and
Vale da Pinta golf course
, which are adjacent to each other.
This is now a full 18-hole course, and has been since 2002. Originally, it was a nine hole layout, but with 18 greens. This means that now it has 27 greens for its 18 holes giving plenty of options for course layout. It is a course which will suit both low and high handicappers. At the end of the round, you can relax on the new clubhouse terrace and enjoy the views overlooking the final hole. Food is good and prices not too high.
The course itself is undulating with some very old olive, almond and carob trees scattered around (although there has been some new trees and bushes planted). With the rolling and shaped fairways, well-positioned bunkers and water hazards, the course is quite challenging, but fair. It is kept in excellent condition, and perhaps the biggest surprise is the lightening fast greens. I think it rates highly compared to other course such as those at Vilamoura.
Off the normal tees it is not too long at 5,500 m, but is more of a challenge off the back tees at a little over 6000m. Par is 72.

Standard Green fees for 2007 are € 60.00 in the low season and € 92.50 in the high season. Discounts can had by booking through agencies, some hotels or by staying at the Pestana Resort.

Directions to Gramacho Golf Course
The Pestana Golf Resort, Gramacho Course, is near Lagoa, 4 km from the village of Carvoeiro, and about a 30-minute drive from Faro Airport. From the airport, take the Via do Infante motorway to Lagoa. At the junction for Carvoeiro follow signs to Sesmarias. Pestana is signed from Lagoa.
