Air travel to the Algarve is the only practical way of getting here for most people, and each year nearly three-quarters of a million people do so. With the advent of cheap flights to Algarve, getting here has never been easier. There are whole raft of operators eager to take you’re money and with flights from most UK airports. Because of the competition nowadays, there are some excellent deals to be had.

The Internet is a great place to find good deals on flights, because you can check multiple airlines out for the best price. Generally to get the cheap flights to Algarve, you should book as far in advance as possible. This is the way to obtain the lowest possible price.

An easy first check is to use a specific travel search engine which search many flight operators for deals that are then easy to compare.

One of the better ones is Kayak. Just enter the first few letters of your departure airport in the search box below and choose from the list of available options. If you don't enter dates it will choose one a couple of weeks in the future. A new window on the Kayak website will be opened with the results of your search.

Alternatively, be on the lookout for deals, which come out at a moments notice from various operators, when they need to drum up a bit of business. You’ll either have to be lucky, or on the ball to get these deals, as they don’t tend to last for very long. There are there to be had though, if you keep a watchful eye.

An often-overlooked way of getting cheap flights to the Algarve is the charter flight. These are flights from tour operators who rent or own planes to transport their customer on package holidays. When they have spare capacity, they will often offer very cheap flight-only deals, although they are likely only to be at weekends. If you want to get one of these deals, then you’ll have to do some work and contact travel agents or tour operators who travel to your desired destination and see what they have to offer.

Faro airport is also served reasonably well from other European countries, with plenty of flights to Algarve from Germany and Spain in particular. Long-haul flights, from places such as the United States currently do not serve the Algarve directly. A change at Lisbon or London will be required.

Once you’ve arrived at Faro airport, you’ll want to get on to your final holiday destination. If you are on a package holiday, you’ll be met by your tour rep and taken to the transfer coach. If you are travelling from Stansted to the Algarve, perhaps you could take advantage of the meet and greet service offered by Crown Parking Services at Stansted Airport. For a small charge they will meet you at the airport and valet park your car in a secure compound until your return, when your car will be waiting for you.
