Castro Marim is 3km to the north of Vila Real de Santo António, separated with the Spanish border by the River Guadiana. It is dominated by a castle on the large hill. The castle was built in the 13th Century but only outer walls remain nowadays.From the castle there are some great views over the salt pans of the Sapal Nature reserve and the River Guadiana.

If you've come to the Eastern Algarve to play golf, then there are some good golf courses to play this side of Faro. Castro Marim has its own golf course, the Castro Marim Golfe & Country Club.

It is located in a small Portuguese village approx 2km from the new Quinta do Vale golf course and Castro Marim course, it is a private property with much potential.
