Almancil Karting – it may not be Formula 1 but it’s great fun!
You can book a drive as an individual, assuming there are no events taking place at the time. Adults have a choice of engine sizes, the larger ones costing more, and your money will get you a 10-minute stint on the track. For 2007, prices range from €15 to €25 for adults. Juniors are €11 and the Mini Formula 1 is €5.
They can also organise events for groups. An ideal activity perhaps, if your in the Algarve with a group of friends or on a stag weekend/holiday. However this needs to be booked in advance, so everything can be organised properly.
It's not all racing racing racing!If a day out experiencing the thrills and spills of motor sport makes your heart sink, don’t despair as karting is not the only activity here. Also here is a ‘Western’ style theme park. Here you can try the rodeo style mechanical bull, and see how long you can stay on for, or if you’re feeling adventurous, the ‘bungy’ trampolines, where you can try death-defying acrobatics in complete safety.
For a more sedate time, there is a race track for radio controlled cars, and for younger kids, motorised mini-boats in the small pool.
If none of this appeals, you can comfort yourself at the snack-bar or for something more substantial there’s La Paella Restaurant.

It has been operating since the early nineties and caters for all ages, from young Lewis Hamilton wannabes to those who think there have been no decent drivers since Stirling Moss. In fact there are 3 tracks here. The main adult track is a 760m replica of a former Brazilian Formula 1 track, and there’s also a track for juniors and also one for the even younger (Mini Formula 1).
